Jim Warner is a retired Air Force Colonel who has spent his adult life involved in the United States Air Force nuclear missile systems. He joined Air Force ROTC on a dare in the middle of Vietnam war protests and never looked back. A Distinguished Graduate of the Holy Cross College AFROTC program, Jim started as a Minuteman II missile combat crew member at Ellsworth AFB, SD, and spent the next 27 years of his Air Force career as a missile operator, instructor, competitor, staff officer, evaluator, and maintenance squadron commander, with additional assignments in acquisition and requirements across locations including South Dakota, California, Belgium, Wyoming, Colorado, and the Pentagon. He spent the next twenty years as a defense contractor supporting the Air Force Minuteman and Sentinel systems. Since 2018, Jim has served as the Executive Director of the Association of Air Force Missileers, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the heritage of our nation’s nuclear missile systems.
