Jim Warner is a retired Air Force Colonel who has spent his adult life involved in the United States Air Force nuclear missile systems. He joined Air Force ROTC on a dare in the middle of Vietnam war protests and never looked back. A Distinguished Graduate of the Holy Cross College AFROTC program, Jim started as a Minuteman II missile combat crew member at Ellsworth AFB, SD, and spent the next 27 years of his Air Force career as a missile operator, instructor, competitor, staff officer, evaluator, and maintenance squadron commander, with additional assignments in acquisition and require­ments across locations including South Dakota, California, Belgium, Wyoming, Colorado, and the Pentagon. He spent the next twenty years as a defense contractor supporting the Air Force Minuteman and Sentinel systems. Since 2018, Jim has served as the Executive Director of the Association of Air Force Missileers, a non­profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the heritage of our nation’s nuclear missile systems.
